I got into the hobby purely for something for me to do when I was medically retired from the military. I was in a really rough mental state just being home, busted up, and just lethargic every single day.

An artist friend of mine noticed my downward spiral and asked me to try something out with him. It was painting figures for a board game we were going to try out. Turns out he was right on the money.

“I dove into painting these quirky minis and just like that, I had a purpose for my day.” Something to look back at the day and say “I’ve made progress on something today”.

That eventually led me into finding this community on Twitch and creating my own channel to help keep me in the hobby and to hang with friends. My goal, and huge push, is to hopefully give others the chance that I was given.

The chance to be a part of an amazing community and creative hobby changed my mental health and daily life in such a positive way. If it wasn’t for this community, I wouldn’t have a home. Almost 2 years ago this community banded together and saved my home when I was in a really bad situation.

Being a part of MHCP gives me a chance to give back and help others the way I was helped. Long-winded I know. But its what got me here
