What inspires you to be a miniature Artist?
I was originally inspired to truly start painting minis back in about 2016 when I came across Kingdom Death: Monster and started looking at youtube videos of people painting up the various pieces from that game. Sure, I had dabbled on and off with miniature painting since about 2000 with the usual – 40K, some Confrontation, and WarmaHordes, but during that time it was more of a “get some paint on so I can play” thing.
Was too intimidated and too broke to really get deep into the painting side of things. The KDM models were beautiful and I thought it would be fun to finally give the painting a real try, so I bought it. That all started my journey. Looking more into how to paint KDM stuff led me to Twitch, which opened up my eyes to the dozens of wonderful miniature makers around the world. The beauty of the pieces, the authenticity, and the talent of the streamers; really kept me inspired to keep painting and keep pushing myself.
What does being an artist mean to you and helping MHCP?
For me, being an artist means learning to push past your fear to share a part of yourself. Sure there is the putting paint on things aspect, but that’s the easy part. It also means sharing in the joy of others’ work. You have to be able to take inspiration from others and even learn to critique others in order to further your own work. I think MHCP can help others realize that and in doing so also shows how this hobby can be incredibly supportive for everyone, especially those who are looking for a way to find their happy place.
